Le Things to do When You are Sick

1. Buy yourself a get well gift...

2. Well, maybe buy two...

3. Catch up on your correspondence...(image courtesy of blog.juliaallison.com)

4. Watch something soothing...

5. Keep stimulating reading material close at hand...

6. And most importantly don't go anywhere without a box of tissues.

Le Science of Sleep

Audrey Hepburn as Miss Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's

I always fall asleep on my hand. This really doesn't mean anything except that consequently my hand also goes to asleep. This prompts me to wake up in the middle of the night to shake the cold numb hand back to life. It's strange because I didn't always sleep like this. I don't remember having this problem when I was a child, or even a few years ago in college. It must be a new development that I picked up during or after my last boyfriend.

Strange, that even something like sleeping habits change over a lifetime. I guess nothing is sacred, nothing stays the same. Not even how we sleep.

How about you? How do you sleep?

Le Confusion and The Smoking Gun

Bill Gates Before Windows. Courtesy of TheSmokingGun.com

Hello peeps! Sorry it has taken me so long to post. I've been pretty busy lately getting to know Munich and living life. It's weird how I have seen more of this city over the past 4 months than I have over the past 4 years. It's been nice :). I have missed Le Blog and you guys though (well, except you people who I have been hanging out with. Actually you are to blame for me neglecting my blog. For shame [wags finger]!). How have you been?

I have also been working on my super secret project, which I finally completed tonight :D!! I will unveil it on Sunday, so stay tuned.

I was surfing the net today and started exploring TheSmokingGun.com. In addition to the gem above, they also have mug shots of Rosa Parks, Larry King and Jane Fonda, among others. It's fun if you have a couple of hours to waste.

I signed up to www.nanowrimo.org and I am totally looking forward to it! Nanowrimo stands for National Novel Writing Month. It takes place in November and the aim is to write a novel and get to 50,000 words (or beyond). It has to be a brand new novel and you cannot begin prioir to Nov. 1 and cannot write beyond Nov. 30. I have decided to write a survival guide for being 26 and confused. Being 26 and quite often confused myself, I figure I should be able to write 50,000 words worth. It will be really hard since I will be gone for 10 days of the month without my computer, but that's what my moleskin is for ;).

Tomorrow I am off to Neuschwanstein, a castle near Munich. I will bring some pictures back to share with you all.

Have a lovely weekend!

Love, Breens

Le Princess and Kate Bush

A Zac Posen Creation Fresh off the Runway. Courtesy of Style.com

I finally found decent-looking speakers for the iBook today. They are very mini, shiny white and simply pretty. And - best of all, they get along with my iPod Nano, which means I have the tiniest stereo in the world now. Absolutely awesome.

While I was at it, I also bought Hounds of Love by Kate Bush and B'Day from Beyonce. I love "Ring the Alarm". It is a bit aggressive, but kinda makes me want to listen to Eminem. Sometimes aggression is good as long as it's just the music. And Kate Bush is perfect for those quiet states of mind.

I discovered a really cool game today called Vera Wang Princess which tells you what kind of princess you are. I happen to be a rock & roll princess, which I am very happy with.

What kind of princess are you?

Le Zipper

Audrey Hepburn - Always poised no matter what
Courtesy of www.artwallpaper.com

The zipper on my pants broke this morning while I was at work. So everytime I left my desk, I walked really fast and had to hide behind chairs and stuff when I talked to my collegues. On my way home on the bus, I had to keep my thick coat on in the heat and cover my lap. Kinda like those dirty men on the subway who jerk off to pubescent girls. You know, perverts.

When I turned 26 I promised myself I would be poised. It was the one thing I really wanted. Happy – too hard. Thin – uh, keep dreaming. But poised, now that seemed achievable. But what did I do instead? Things like, oh I don't know - repeatedly bump my head into the Starbucks sign when I was sitting on the couch under it and hit myself in the face with the phone at work. And fall into the street, in front of a car. And two days ago, I walked into a pole when saying good bye to friends. Sure I was consoled by the cute guy with crystal blue eyes afterwards. But still. Was it poised? I think not.

My current wish for 26? Stay alive and remotely in one piece.

Le Petit Prince

A fabulous Gucci shoe courtesy of www.style.com

The life of a single girl can be tough, but sometimes it catches you off guard. Like when you are out with friends and end up meeting a prince from Dubai. Yes, a real prince. On a recent girls night out, I was feeling a little unloved, unattractive and underappreciated when the said meeting took place. The girls and I went clubbing and were dancing when a group of guys came to dance with me and then asked if we would like to join them at the VIP area. It would be fun and all our drinks would be paid for. So we went up there, and this guy kept motioning to me to come sit next to him and although I hesitated, I went and sat down. One of his friends then told me that he is a prince from Dubai and I should be careful. They have lots of princes there, apparently. So I sat there, with my ego all happy since I got picked from all the girls. He was really really polite and respectful, and we just chatted. Then the clock struck 2 and my last u-bahn was about to turn into a pumpkin, so it was time to say farewell.

He didn't make me a princess, but he made me feel attractive and desired again. Exactly what the doctor ordered ;).

Sweet, fairytale-filled dreams!

Le Fan

How cool is that? My friend Katie just got back from Japan and bought 'a Hello Kitty fan for a Hello Kitty fan' (i.e. me). She also bought me a totally pimp Hello Kitty iPod Nano cover :). Awesome.

More posts to come later. My cousin left yesterday so I have to go clean up my room and bring it back to normal...

Le Judgment

I have been shamed by a ten year old. It's silly really, but there have been some comments made that I do not feel entirely comfortable with. First of all there is the whole 'omg you have so much Hello Kitty'. I mean, so what if I love a cat that was most likely aimed at children but is perfectly acceptable for an adult? It's not like I'm obsessed. And half of the stuff I own was given to me. Sure, they were from me to me, but still, it's rude to reject presents, everyone knows that.

And then there's the whole 'you treat your camera like a child' comment. What, like society doesn't pressure me enough to go and settle down and pop out babies? Now I'm getting pressure from children and family too? I'm only 26 people and I'll go down that path in my own time. Or am I misunderstanding the whole thing and she is just saying that I take really good care of my belongings? Is she calling me anal, because I'm not. It took me months to save up for the camera and then another two months to pick it. I'm bound to gingerly wrap it in it's original styrofoam bag and carefully place it into it's own Hello Kitty camera bag each time I use it.

Sigh.

Le Gossip

Dude, what's up with Mel Gibson? Remember when he was actually cute and sort of goofy? Now he's just the passionate religious guy who's thinks it's normal to look like Osama.

...I have no words...what the hell happened to Mel Gibson??? Where did he go wrong??? Someone get this man a stylist or a razor or a bag to put over his head.

I've had a really really good weekend. Friday night I went to the Leos Sports Club summer party which was sponsered by Porsche. It was the first time where I've been to a party in Munich that felt like it was happened, very Sex and the City. I danced, chatted, sat on the hood of a silver Porsche and took full advantage of the open bar. It's okay, because on Saturday my hangover took full advantage of me. I spent the better part of the evening lounging on a chair on a balcony while friends barbequed. It was pretty sweet. I love summer.

I'll leave you guys with something easy on the eyes (and ears): my new favorite video, Sexy Back from Justin Timberlake. And let me tell you, he DEFINITELY does bring sexy back. I love this video, it reminds me of Madonna circa Erotica and Too Funky from George Michael. Very 90s. Very trendy. And very HOT :). Enjoy!

[Due to technical difficulties (ie. my technical incapabilities) we (ie. I) can't directly embed the video. So here's is a link to it:

Le Army

Something’s going down. I can feel it. Some sort of cult or organized religion has started to emerge and it is catching on like crazy. People belonging to this group are undistinguishable from others save for one tiny detail: The White Headphones. They are everywhere; the street, the u-bahn, even on TV. The iPod army building up, waiting to take over the world.

I shall not stand for it. I’m going to wear black headphones in protest and invent an mp3 player and call it the antiipod or ‘aPod’ for short. It will be bulky, ugly, hard to use and bad quality. We’ll show them. And then I shall put up a music website called antitunes or ‘aTunes’. Only it will not sell music but sounds such as bells, cow moos, clanking and the soothing tunes of a vacuum cleaner. The aPod will only work with aTunes. It’s okay, each sound can be used on three computers, one aPod and burned onto CD. For your listening pleasure.

Le Beginning

My name is Sabrina and I am an aspiring skateboarder. And by aspiring I mean that every time I walk by a skateboard display in a sports store (usually Sport Karstadt) I have to stop in my tracks, pick up a skateboard, climb on top of it while holding onto random boxes and shelves and then carefully roll up and down the isle until a) a shop attendant yells at me for skating on a kids skateboard or b) I fall. And I haven’t fallen yet :D so I normally just get yelled at for trying to live my dreams. Humpf. Welcome to Germany.

In addition to being a passionate skater, I also like to read, write, knit, ride my bike, DJ, shop, listen to music really really loudly, sing along to songs on the top of my lungs, dress up when I have no reason to, decorate, read gossip magazines in magazine shops (well, look at the pictures mainly), wander around book shops, obsessively watch bad TV shows, hang out with friends, read gossip columns and eat. I also love shoes, hats, clothes, Madonna, pop music, brit pop, rock and Sade. (but who doesn’t love Sade), my iBook G4 (no Intel processor for this chica), traveling, shopping (definitely worth mentioning twice), hanging out in cafes, being out really late at night, opening my windows really late at night and listening to the sound of the city sleeping, New York City, Paris, London, chocolate, cheese, Audrey Hepburn, Before Sunrise, Garden State, Great Expectations (the movie), What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (the movie – I have yet to read the book), Punch Drunk Love, Seinfeld, Friends, my actual real life friends, my family, enjoying the moment, pretending I know everything, trying to make people laugh, having revelations and discovering the meaning of life every other day and the color pink.

Welcome to my blog! What do you think? I know, it’s a little empty, but I just moved in so bear with me, I haven’t had time to decorate. Well, I also don’t know how to use my Mac enough in order to decorate this page.... I mean, it took me like three weeks to find out that it has a right mouse button, and then another week to find out how to use it. Oooh, which reminds me, I just bought a mouse for this thing:

Sigh. Isn’t it beautiful? Apple stopped producing them so I had to search like, around the world to find a new one. And when I say around the world, I mean ebay. This one was found in Belgium and is on it’s way to me at this very moment. How exciting is that? I am also hoping to buy the camera below:

Isn’t it gorgeous? I have to wait to buy it though since I somehow managed to spend part of my camera money. Now I have to wait until June till I get it. But that’s okay, it’s only two weeks away. It’s a very good camera and has a lot of really excellent features that I will never use. I think it is more of a fashion accessory though rather than ultra good quality. The fact that I would buy something for looks is kind of worrying, but I’m not really like that, honest. I mean, I didn’t just buy my Mac because it’s beautiful. I also bought it because it is really stable and can do loads of things. Of course I don’t know how to do most of those things…but look how shiny it is :D. And like, everyone in movies uses a Mac. Hollywood wouldn’t do that just to make people look hip. It’s obviously because Macs are known for quality too.

But anyway. I just wanted to introduce myself although I don’t really know why I really needed to though…anyone reading this is probably someone I know anyway. Hi by the way [wave]! Wherever you are in the world, I hope you are well. Thank you for checking this out and I hope you come back to visit occasionally. Anyway, I’m off to watch some Scrubs. See y’all soon!

Good night.
xx
Sabrina
