Le Dresses and Rodarte

Delicate by Rodarte

I'm not the biggest Rodarte fan but I recently read an interesting quote from them: ""Kate Mulleavy is comparing the dresses that she and her sister, Laura, design to the sound of the drum-heavy rock band the White Stripes. "They start with the most basic elements but make music that really fills a space," she says. "What we do, manipulating simpler textiles into really complicated things, is sort of like that." (Vogue, November 2006). I love the idea of transcribing music into fabric, notes into hues and color.

In addition to the odd hat and pants, today I was totally in the mood for dresses; long ones, short ones, shiny ones, sleek ones. All images courtesy of
